God forbade...must reading!

Ideal Observer

Theory that states “that act is good which appears good to an ideal observer”, a person who is more knowledgable than you, more objective than you, yet who still cares.

A man had long given up a compulsive need to be admired by people. His primary desire had come to be admired or pleasing in the sight of an ideal observer. God had transmutated his narcissism to become an extraordinarily admirable human being.

Just think of what it would be like if all husbands and wives, all parents, employees and executives automatically considered their organizational behavior from the vantage of a caring being more knowledgable and objective than themselves!

Might it not be a more civil world?
