Max Horkheimer lists the degenerative process of concretism, understanding the way a clock functions is more interesting than the time it measures. They’ve all become mechanics, as it were. In theory, they invest all their love in those things they deal with doubt-free. They think they can find security in absolute things that protect them from all contradiction. They’re infatuated with neat means, methods and techniques. They pathologically underestimate, or forget what they no longer think they’re capable of. They forget what all of us at one time or another have hoped to achieve by way of insight.
