Fate defines events ordered inevitable. Fate regards the finality of events, as they have worked themselves out. Destiny is projected into the future to become events worked out. Fate relates to past events, proven true and unalterable, destiny relates to the probable, to almost certain future.
One meaning fate is finality, death. Fate determined by an outside force, destiny has participation in an acheived outcome. Said in a past tense, fate and destiny mean a 'lot in life' or fortune, including the sum of events leading to the outcome.
