Human Offset
Humans are the only living creatures who make love face to face. Only to humans does it matter who your partner is. Its noted humans are uniquely capable of sexual arousal, even when they are not procreational. For human only, sex is about love, intimacy and shared pleasure, not only about heeding the instinct to reproduce.
Calves are born and walk around within minutes of their birth. They had few responsibilities and were never taught. They are born hardwired with everything they will ever need to know.
To be human is a matter of hearing an inner voice only addressed to you. As dogs can hear high pitched tones we cannot, we hear cries of conscience beyond animal comprehension.
I don’t believe eating from the Tree of Knowledge was inordinately sinful, it was one of the most brave and liberating events in the history of human race. Its consequences are painful in the same way growing up and leaving home is painful. Similarly, addressing the responsibilities of marriage and parenthood can leave you wondering,
Why did I ever give up my less complicated life for these problems?
But, for he who has experienced the complex, hard earned satisfaction of human existence, its undoubtedly, worth the pain.
