Dysfunction
Somehow the idea all families are dysfunctional is in circulation. It has to be sheer shock value. The inverse has to be a variation of the good lovin’ people get.
If dysfunction is defined as being anything less than perfect, we may be all. Furthermore, if any parent ever makes a mistake that leaves a mark, so be us. As a matter of fact, when it comes to designing a spaceship or building a bridge, one imperfection can make the whole project worthless.
Raising a child to be a decent human being is so much more complicated, a zero tolerance for error is, simply, unrealistic.
Fortunately children are resilient enough to survive most of our mistakes. Especially in a nurturing environment free of expectations of perfection on our part or theirs.
